NATIONAL AFRICAN AMERICAN NEIGHBORHOODS
HOMEOWNERS AND TENANTS ADVOCATE

ARTICLE VI
MEMBERS
Section 6.01 NAANHTA shall have eight (8) classes of members which shall be as follows:
(a) Trustees shall be three (3) in number and collectively known as the Board of Trustees and also hold the rank of Master Advocates. They shall serve as the National Central Authority for NAANHTA, and Keepers of the covenants expressed in these foregoing Bylaws over all subordinate Regions, Divisions, Chapters and individual members
(b) Chief Advocates who shall serve in one of the following categories:
(1) National Advisory Board consisting of not less than five (5) nor more than eleven (11)
Chief Advocates who are appointed by the Board of Trustees.
(2) National Board of Regions consisting of not less than three (3) nor more than thirty-one
(31) Chief Advocates who shall be appointed by the Board of Trustees.
(c) Senior Advocates
(d) Advocates
(e) Junior Advocates (adults age 22 and over)
(f) Student Advocates (ages 13-21)
(g) Youth Advocates (ages 9-12)
(h) Honorary Advocates (ages birth through 8 years)
Section 6.02 Membership in NAANHTA is open to every qualified African American (black, moor, or so-called negroes).
Section 6.03 In order to qualify for membership an individual aged 18 or above or the adult parent or legal guardian of any minor below the age of 18, must submit a completed Registration Form (RF-1) online or by mail to the National Resource Center at the attention of the: Member Affairs Department: to include full name, age, city and state of residence, at least one (1) primary email address, and a signed verification; along with a five dollar ($5.00) non refundable registration fee for each person listed on form RF-1.
Section 6.04 Each member must renew their registration annually in the same manner as stated in Section 6.03 but using the Annual Certification Form (RF-2), and include a five-dollar ($5.00) registration fee for each person listed on the RF-2, both being due on the anniversary date of their initial registration.
Section 6.05 Within 3-5 business days after a registration form is received at the National Resource Center (NRC), the primary as well as each listed email address shall receive an email confirmation and link to our workshop “Advocacy 1.0”.
Section 6.06 Each person listed on the Registration Form (RF-1) who are of the ages 9 years through adult must complete “Advocacy 1.0” at least once within the first 90 days after receiving the confirmation email from NRC.
Section 6.07 “Advocacy 1.0” is mandatory only once during the initial registration year and not for subsequent Annual Certification, or any future years unless it undergoes significant revisions or replacement. However, the training may be voluntarily reviewed as often as a registered member would like.
Section 6.08 Form RF-1 along with a five-dollar ($5.00) per person registration fee may be submitted in person to a Senior Advocate or President of a local Chapter, who after giving receipt for same shall forward it to NRC within 72 hours or the next business day thereafter if the 72 hour limit falls on a Saturday, Sunday or legal U.S. holiday. The “3-5 business day” requirement of Section 6.05 shall commence once the application is received at NRC.
Section 6.09 Payment in full of the initial and annual registration fees will entitle the member to their respective membership privileges for one full year from the date of registration, including although not expressly limited to freely attending regular and general Chapter, Divisional and Regional Meetings without payment of any entrance fees, and the Annual National Conference hosted by NRC upon payment in full of all applicable fees.
Section 6.10 Membership is automatically terminated whenever a member is in default of submitting the Annual Certification Form (RF-2) and/or delinquent in paying the required registration fees for 30 days after they are due.
Section 6.11 RESIGNATION. Any Member may resign by delivering a written resignation to the Member Affairs Department at NRC. Such resignation shall not relieve the resigning Member of the obligation to pay any fees, assessments, or other charges theretofore accrued and unpaid.
Section 6.12 When a registered member moves from a neighborhood they may join a local Chapter in their new neighborhood, or by forming a new Chapter if there is none available by sending a written notice and request to the Member Affairs Department at NRC. There will be no additional fee for relocating as long as the member’s registration period has not expired.
Section 6.13 A listing of national and local officers, divisions and chapters may be disclosed and disseminated by NRC as public information on the NAANHTA official website, various official publications, and other related mediums.
Section 6.14 Except for Court Order or the Board of Trustees at its discretion and for good cause shown, determines that it is in the absolute best interest of the members, and excluding internal operation purposes, NRC or the Member Affairs Department will not disseminate or disclose the national list of all individual registered members; however, this does not preclude each local Chapter, Division or Region from maintaining their own list of members, but no such listing can be combined or extended beyond an individual Region’s listing.
Section 6.15 To protect the rights and privacy of all, and without consideration of class, every member who is privy to the national membership listing shall sign a non disclosure form and keep such information strictly confidential.
